199 tours  ·  ★★★★★★★★★★ 4.6 average  ·  from $37

The Mesoamerican reef starts a few hundred metres offshore, which is why so much here is sold by the boatload. These 15 cover the shallow Punta Nizuc gallery, the Manchones reef off Isla Mujeres and the turtle bays down the coast, with prices, group sizes and how far out each one goes.

“Pros and cons. On the positive side the guide was good and the variety of activities was good. We saw turtles coral stingrays and colourful fish. The photographs were nice and surprisingly we purchased the package (100 usd for 5 people and group shots) The cons. The timing was way off. We were told we would arrive in tulum about 9 (our pick up was 710) but arrived after 10 am. We were told by operator we would be back by 5 so we made dinner plans for 7. We arrived back after 7 pm. A second issue was how crowded the reef area was. We had about 15 people…”

“We drove ourselves. Semi valet parking, check in was like everything else with lots of people. Crowded but organized. In my very humble opinion, this was OUR party boat. It didn’t seem like many other people wanted to party but with the good music my husband and I danced and drank the entire way. Husband said snorkeling was a bit rushed and there wasn’t much to see (I didn’t do it). Buffet was decent. Understanding that all boats stop at this location, their purpose is quantity over quality. I’m not mad about it. I had tortillas, spaghetti and chicken. Just what I needed to keep me going for the party…”

“Highly recommend! I've actually done this before and enjoyed. My son and I did it this time. It's very interactive, educational, and fun! We unfortunately weren't able to snorkel because of weather- but they allowed us to drive the boats longer. It was out of their control. Lunch is always delicious. I actually have another reservation to do it tomorrow with other family members.”

“This was a great quick snorkel trip to a couple different areas of the reefs near Puerto Morelos. Our guide Richie was fantastic- funny, helpful, knowledgable and he spoke very good English. Some on our boat had never snorkeled before while others were very experienced, and Richie accommodated for everyone. No guarantee, but we saw a sea turtle, nurse shark, and all kinds of beautiful fish and coral.”

We had plenty of time at each location, and we never felt rushed—we could go at our own pace. We had a group of 10, with 2 adults, and 8 kids ranging in age from 7-18. Everyone had a great time and this was their favorite activity of our trip—and it’s usually impossible for us to find something that EVERYONE in our group likes. I would a million percent recommend this to anyone.”
